Balancing our 5 elements is a crucial component in one’s daily yoga practice. Advanced Yoga and meditation teacher Sanjeev Shivananda provides us with some “divine” yoga tips on how we can use ancient yoga techniques such as pranayama breathing techniques to activate and balance the air element within our bodies.

Many of us do not breathe properly. In fact, this shallow breathing habit has become commonplace amongst the majority of people living on our planet today. The reason being is because with increased stress levels comes bodily responses which are often apparent in one’s respiratory function first, followed by a host of other physical symptoms such as palm, foot, or facial sweating.

As an example, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) is often the result of a faulty fight or fight response-to-sweat gland secretion. But did you know that controlled, deeper, and systematic breathing techniques can be a vital addition to hyperhidrosis treatmentent when applied in a safe and correct manner?

Breathing is the bridge between the conscious and the subconscious. It is a fundamental pillar of our inner engineering. We are designed from the inside out. Not outside in. It’s important that we balance the inside elements before we try to interact with outer elements! The science is quite simple.
